BIOGRAPHY

John Newsom, who received degrees from RISD and NYU, is an important mid-career artist known for his thickly-layered, gestural paintings of pastoral flora and fauna. In 2012, Newsom was ranked 47th among the Top 100 contemporary artists by ‘Flash Art’ magazine, and his works are included in such prestigious museum collections as the Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the Hammer Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He lives and works in New York City.
